How to Cleanse & Care for Your Crystals
Crystals are more than beautiful objects — they are living tools that absorb, hold, and transmit energy. Like any tool, they work best when cared for. Regular cleansing clears accumulated energy and returns your crystal to its natural state, ready to support you fully. Below you'll find our favourite methods, so you can choose what feels right for you and your stones.
Moonlight
One of the gentlest and most powerful methods. Place your crystals on a windowsill or outside under the light of a full moon overnight. The moon's energy cleanses and recharges without any risk of damage. Safe for all crystals.
Sound Cleansing
Use a singing bowl, bell, or tuning fork to bathe your crystals in sound vibration. The resonance breaks up stagnant energy quickly and effectively. Ideal if you have a large collection — one session cleanses everything at once. Safe for all crystals.
Sage & Smoke Cleansing
Pass your crystal slowly through the smoke of burning sage, palo santo, or incense. A traditional and deeply grounding method. Safe for all crystals.
Selenite
Place your crystals on or beside a selenite plate or stick for several hours or overnight. Selenite is one of the few self-cleansing crystals and will clear and recharge anything placed near it. Safe for all crystals.
Running Water
Hold your crystal under cool running water for 30–60 seconds, visualising any stagnant energy washing away. Please note: some crystals are water-sensitive and should never be submerged. Avoid this method for Selenite, Malachite, Pyrite, Lepidolite, and any crystal with a raw or porous surface.
Earth & Soil
Bury your crystal in the earth — either in your garden or in a pot of soil — for 24 hours to several days. The earth absorbs and neutralises energy naturally. Ideal for heavily used or emotionally charged stones. Safe for most crystals; avoid with water-soluble stones.
Sunlight
A short burst of morning sunlight can energise and cleanse many crystals. Please note: prolonged sun exposure can fade the colour of some stones, including Amethyst, Rose Quartz, Citrine, and Fluorite. Limit to 1–2 hours of gentle morning light.
